2025 Energy Rebates & Tax Credits

Major Savings Are Expiring — Act Before They’re Gone

Homeowners across the greater Puget Sound region are facing deadlines that will not return once they pass. The Federal 25C Energy Efficiency Tax Credit, along with major PSE and Tacoma Power (TPU) utility rebates, are set to expire or change this year. If you’ve been thinking about replacing your furnace or upgrading to a high-efficiency heat pump, this is the last chance to lock in thousands in savings before all incentives reset.

The 25C Federal Tax Credit — Up to $2,000 Back, But Only Through 2025

The 25C tax credit has helped countless homeowners reduce the upfront cost of heat pumps and energy-efficient HVAC systems. But the current version of the credit ends after 2025 — and there is no guarantee it will be renewed.

Why This Matters

  • Receive up to $2,000 back on qualifying heat pump installations.

  • You must have your system installed before December 31, 2025 to qualify.

  • Once the credit expires, it’s gone — eliminating the largest federal incentive for HVAC upgrades.

As homeowners across Puget Sound rush to secure installations before the deadline, available install dates are already tightening.

PSE Rebates — Up to 50% Off for Income-Qualified Homeowners

Puget Sound Energy offers some of the most generous incentives in the region — but several rebate tiers are scheduled to end or change this month.

Standard PSE Rebates

For qualifying heat pumps and high-efficiency systems, PSE currently offers rebates that can reduce the cost of installation by hundreds to more than a thousand dollars, depending on system type and efficiency rating.

But the most important opportunity right now is the income-qualified program.

Income-Qualified Heat Pump Rebates — Up to 50% Savings

PSE’s enhanced income-qualified rebate program can cover up to 50% of the cost of a brand-new high-efficiency heat pump system for eligible households.

This can reduce the cost of a full installation by several thousand dollars — but the program structure and rebate amounts are changing soon. If homeowners don’t apply in time, they may lose access to the 50% coverage.

Why It’s Critical to Act Now

  • Several PSE rebate categories are expiring or decreasing this month.

  • Certain qualifying tiers — including income-qualified rebates — may not return at current levels.

  • Homeowners could lose $500–$4,000+ depending on the program they qualify for.

  • Rebate applications must be tied to qualified installations, creating a narrow timeline.

TPU Rebates — Also Changing This Month

Tacoma Power (TPU) has announced similar changes. Several of their heat pump incentives are being reduced or eliminated this month. For TPU customers, waiting even a few weeks could mean losing another $500–$1,200 in local incentives.

HVAC Financing Offers: 0% Interest for 18 Months

This is the final opportunity to combine federal tax credits, PSE rebates, TPU rebates, and income-qualified programs before the incentives change or disappear entirely.

Ranger Heating & Cooling is opening additional installation slots specifically to help homeowners beat these deadlines, but capacity is limited. Once these incentives expire, homeowners will pay significantly more for the same systems.

If you want the lowest possible pricing on a new heat pump system in 2025 — especially if you may qualify for PSE’s 50% income-qualified rebate — you must act now.

Schedule your free in-home estimate today, and our team will verify exactly which rebates and tax credits you qualify for before they expire.
